Lynn Alan Shepherd

Attorney At Law

Mr. Shepherd is a practicing Attorney licensed in the States of Texas and Michigan. His concentration is in the field of Business & Estate Planning, Wills, Trust & Probate. He has more than 36 years of legal experience in the fields of problem solving, litigation, finance, client acquisition, advising management, governmental regulation, strategic planning, data analysis and legal structure creation. His background include positions as an account executive with Merrill Lynch, a professor at Texas Southern University, an Assistant Regional Counsel for the U.S. Department of Energy and as An Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan and he served honorably in the U.S Army during the Vietnam War. He is a member of National Network of Estate Planning Attorneys, Institute for Estate Practitioners, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, National Bar Association, Black Entertainment and Sports Lawyers Association and Fort Bend County Chamber of commerce.

Mr. Shepherd received his Bachelor of Science degree from Western Michigan University and his Juris Doctor degree from Wayne State University Law School. He has participated in numerous postgraduate workshops and conferences both on and offshore in the field of Domestic and International Business and Estate Planning. He has presented training classes for various corporations and government entities including Texaco, The Port of Houston Authority, and Houston Community College. He has also participated in more than 100 financial services presentations.

Mr. Shepherd approaches the practice of law from a client oriented perspective. He believes that effective Attorney/Client relations are based upon clear communications. The number one complaint about lawyers is that they do not timely return phone calls. He knows that a client calling is usually in distress and wants immediate answers. Therefore, he strives to return all calls within 24 hours and most within a few hours of the same day.

He tackles his cases with tenacity, perseverance, creativity, sensitivity and spiritual understanding. His goal is to serve the baby boom generation in their quest for peace of mind in their lives. Many have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins and other close relatives suffering from dementia (Alzheimer's and other mental issues). He has seen firsthand the heartache and confusion caused by the onset of these debilitating conditions. He is presently responsible for the welfare of his 87 year old cousin residing at a memory care facility and sees countless others faced with this dilemma. They don't know what to do or how to do it, and the problem is only getting larger by the day.

Mr. Shepherd has extensive education and experience. His legal training ensued at Wayne State University Law School, where the faculty and staff foster a culture of excellence in the legal profession. He has solved many complicated and novel cases, from establishing rights for heirs of Spanish land grants, protecting rights of children of seamen lost at sea, easing the stress of family members of Alzheimer's patients, obtaining guardianships for the disabled, creating Wills and Trusts to ease the future burden on family members, creating business succession plans to maintain control and probating wills in the courtroom, just to name a few. Whether hired by private individuals or being appointed by both Federal and State courts, he continues to satisfy the highest expectations of his clients and judges.

He urges his prospective clients to seek professional advice with their legal issues. There is no substitute for experience in the courtroom and familiarity with court personnel. Do-it-yourself lawyering can be quite time consuming, expensive and stressful and many times results in making a problem worse rather than better. The legal system can be very intimidating and confusing. He is proud of his ability to explain the law to ordinary people and make sure it works for and not against them.

When you call his office, you can expect a prompt return call and a free telephone consultation. His philosophy is to listen, listen, and listen. He does not assume to know the problem or answer immediately. He believes in letting the client thoroughly explain and only then explore options for solutions. He does not mislead clients only to get a fee. He educates the client in their choices and guides them to the appropriate action with stories of his experiences. There are no pat or standardized solutions. Each answer is tailored to the specific client need. Each case and client is unique and they are treated that way.

Mr. Shepherd is married with 2 children and 1 grandchild and resides in Fort Bend County, Texas, a suburb of Houston.
